Multiplication practice!
This is a great worksheet to practice multiplication using different strategies.
- Assign students a random number that they will write in the “Number” box.
- Students write a multiplication equation in the “Commutative Property” box and circle it.
- Students draw/write the commutative property, number line, repeated addition, array, skip counting, groups, and equal groups based on the original equation – not the commutative property.
- Tell students to get creative with their pictures!
Since these are samples of student work, there may be a few mistakes! For example, instead of 2 x 16, the student should have used 2 x 17. But, you should be able to get the general idea of how to do this worksheet.
The image below is our 10 x 10 wall. In order to have a box for every single number from 1 -100, students needed a bit of help. Some numbers have a few equations to choose from. Since all the pictures did not fit on the 10X10 array box in the worksheet, I had students cut the bottom portion of the paper and glue it onto the worksheet – this gave them more space to draw larger arrays.
